First Calendar of Summer

I would never ever forget the calendar….

Lanny will be up in Wheeler Gorge with Professor Jim Adams… from the press release, please pay attention:

Herb Walks with Lanny Kaufer is proud to present an Herb Walk at Wheeler Gorge north of Ojai with special guest Dr. James Adams of the USC School of Pharmacology on Saturday, June 23, from 9 am to 12 noon. Participants will experience both riparian and chaparral habitats lush with native and naturalized flora as Kaufer and Professor Adams identify wild plants and discuss the many ways they can be used for food, medicine, crafts, survival, landscaping and more. This will be a easy-paced walk of about 2 miles round trip on a mostly level trail with gradual elevation gain. Parts of the trail are alongside a running stream. It is suitable for hikers of all levels of ability. The cost of the Herb Walk is $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and full-time students. Kids 5-12 may attend free of charge accompanied by an adult. No dogs, please. Those interested in attending can register at www.HerbWalks.com/Register or by calling 805-646-6281.

Professor Adams brings to the Herb Walk a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a unique perspective on medicine. He is the co-author — with the late Chumash healer Cecilia Garcia — of the groundbreaking book Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West: Cultural and Scientific Basis for Their Use. An Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, he has been teaching pharmacy students, medical students, doctors and other healthcare professionals for over 25 years and has over 200 publications.

OK wow… sorry about the font pandemonium.  Regardless sounds like a spectacular time.

Right here in Ojai we are having our annual Lavendar festival.  Now lavender is not a native, but it is beautiful, drought tolerant and a lot of fun to grow and propagate.  If you want to learn more Antonio from Nopalito Nursery will be giving a talk on using lavender in your garden on Saturday, and Sunday he will be teaching you to grow your very own from cuttings.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, will be bringing you new pictures ASAP.

Thanks, Ron. I’m on the phone (on hold) with Apple right now trying to figure out why my press release looked like that.
